Public Health is ready to begin enforcement of all mandatory ISPA vaccines for the 2022/2023 school year for students in Grades 7 to 12.
- Due to COVID-19, the enforcement of the Immunization of School Pupils Act was put on hold and the ability for families to access vaccine decreased.
- Despite recent catch-up clinics, approximately 25, 000 students in grade 7-12 are missing one or more vaccines
- Enforcement of the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA) for 2022/2023 will focus on grades 7 to 12 students.
- This is to catch students prior to entering Post-Secondary School when they are at a higher risk for certain vaccine preventable diseases such as meningococcal disease.
- Notices will be sent home between November to January on a rolling basis with notices for approximately 17 schools sent each week.
- Following that, suspension orders will be mailed directly to parents/students at least three weeks before the suspension date.
