Dear parents/guardians,

I hope this newsletter finds you well as we reflect on a vibrant and eventful month of September at Monsignor Doyle. It’s been an exciting start to the school year, filled with numerous activities and opportunities for our students.

We kicked off the school year with an all-school assembly focusing on the various student support services available at Doyle. We also introduced our dedicated staff members. To add to the excitement, our grade 9 students enjoyed a delicious pizza lunch. To round out the day, our entire student body had the opportunity to capture memories on Photo Day. We hope those photos will be cherished for years to come.

Grade level meetings were held on September 13th to discuss school expectations and set the tone for the year ahead. Likewise on September 7th, 12th, and 14th our grade 9 students had the privilege of meeting with our dedicated Mustang Mentors. These meetings covered topics such as getting involved, available opportunities at Doyle, study tips, and discussions about wellbeing. We extend our gratitude to Mr. Reis, Ms. Hureau, Ms. Rose, Mr. Cinti, Mr. Schade and Mr. Marschall for their invaluable contributions.

On September 18th our sports enthusiasts celebrated the return of fall D8 sports, bringing the spirit of competition back to our school.

A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Hall and his SAC students for hosting an unforgettable Grade 9 Night on September 21st. This event provided a warm welcome to our newest members of the Doyle community. Students played games such as foosball, ping pong, horseshoes, and a movie, complete with popcorn.

On September 22nd, our annual Co-Curricular Fair was held in Lowry Hall and as always, it was a fantastic success. Kudos to Mr. Hall for organizing this event, which showcased the wide array of extracurricular activities available to our students.

September 26th marked our first championship of the year!  A big congratulations to both our girls and boys golf teams for their outstanding victories at the D8 Championships. We wish them the best of luck at CWOSSA. Congratulations to coaches Mr. Schade and Mr. Hewko.

We also held our first Catholic School Advisory Council (CSAC) meeting on the evening of September 26th in the Learning Commons. We continue to encourage parents and guardians to come to our meetings.  We welcome all new and diverse voices, ideas, and contributions; as our school becomes more diverse, we would like to invite our equity-seeking parents to join CSAC. Our Co-Chairs for this year will be Tracey Babineau and Oscar Viana. Please see our website under the Parent link for further details or call the main office.

On September 27th, Monsignor Doyle recognized Rowan Law Day, which aims to keep concussions safety at the forefront of youth athletics. Students participated in activities in their period 4 classes.

September 28th, the Doyle community held their Orange Shirt Day. This tied directly to our all-school Opening Liturgy in the gym, centered around the theme of Truth and Reconciliation. It was a powerful way to unite as a school community and reflect on the message of the Good Samaritan parable in Luke’s gospel. Thank you to Ms. Cho, our school’s new Chaplain, for organizing a wonderful celebration and for challenging the staff and students as we all work towards truth and reconciliation.

We look forward to the continued growth and success of our students in the coming months. As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact either myself or one of the other members of the administration team.

On behalf of Monica Carlin, Rich Stehlik, and myself, we want to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving Day. Our hope is you have an opportunity to spend time with family and friends.

Sincerely,

Lou Bellini – Principal
