October at Doyle has been very busy!

We kicked off the month with a student assembly that saw Sam Demma present his “Unlock your Potential: The Backpack Tour” where he discusses the topics of Mental Health, Leadership and Kindness. Sam was well received by both students and staff. Thank you to Ms. Monica Carlin for organizing the event.

October 5th marked our first pizza day at Doyle. Pizza days are used to provide students with a popular lunch meal and give our Community Living students an opportunity to gain real life experiences through serving the pizza to their schoolmates and members of Mustang Athletics Councils members to gain leadership experience. Thank you to Ms. Amanda Loraso, Ms. Steph Garibaldi, Ms. Catherine MacArthur, Ms. Julie Feddema, Ms. Monica Carlin and Mr. Rich Stehlik. Well done everyone!

The week of October 9th was our Spirit Week here at Doyle. The SAC students planned great activities for the week. SAC planned a Pep Rally at the volleyball game on Wednesday, October 11th, a Scavenger Hunt happening on Thursday, October 12th and ended the week with Karaoke in Lowry Hall Friday at lunch. Well done SAC! Thanks to the SAC students under the supervision of Mr. Cameron Hall.

The afternoon and evening of October 26th was semester one’s parent/teacher interviews. It was great to see so many parents/guardians and their children at the event! Mid-term report cards will be distributed on November 22nd. More details as we get closer to the date.

As we approach the end of the fall sports season, I want to congratulate all student-athletes for their hard work and a great season. A special shoutout goes to our teams/student-athletes that advanced to post-season play. The Senior Boys Cross Country Team won the D8 Team Championship on October 19th at the University of Waterloo. Andrew Corbeil finished third, earning a D8 bronze medal; congratulations Andrew! They then competed at the CWOSSA Championships on October 26th in Simcoe. Again, I want to congratulate Andrew Corbeil on a 5th place finish, which qualifies him to compete at the OFSAA Championships on November 4th. Good luck Andrew and well done to the Cross Country team! Switching to golf; both the Boys and Girls Golf Teams won the D8 team championships. Individually, Maya Incitti won the D8 Girls Championship and Jordan Lacson finished 3rd. Maya Incitti and Hope Reis advanced to CWOSSA, where Maya finished 3rd and advanced to OFSAA, finishing 26th overall. Aidan Goias, Jordan Lacson, Hunter Barnhardt and Gabe Carswell advanced to CWOSSA; Jordan Lacson finished 6th. All the best to the remaining fall sports teams who are entering the playoffs this week. Go Mustangs!

True to tradition, Doyle hosted their annual Halloween Haunt on October 27th. Congratulations to Mr. Hall, the SAC students, and all the student volunteers on another fabulous evening. It was a great event that saw many Future Mustangs and their families enjoying the fun and thrills.

Finally, our Social Justice club ran their annual Halloween For Hunger on October 31st. Our club members went around the neighborhood asking for food donations to help the needy in our community. Congratulations to the social justice club members and to Ms. Denomme for another successful social justice initiative.

Finally, on behalf of Monica Carlin, Rich Stehlik and myself, we want to wish you a wonderful upcoming month. As always, our doors are always open should you need to speak with us about your child.
